Tamara Tvrtković was born in 1971 in Zagreb. She graduated in1994 with majors in classical philology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the University of Zagreb, where she also completed her master’s (2000) and doctoral (2006) studies. She was employed as the senior research associate at the Croatian Institute of History (1999-2013), where she was also the head of the Department of Croatian Latinist Historiography and the “Civil Croatia in the early modern period: social, cultural and political relations” project manager. As associate professor, she is employed since 2013 at the study of the Latin language and Croatian Latinity at the Centre for Croatian Studies (obligatory courses include: Introduction to Latin philology, Latin language 5, Latin language 6, Overview of post-Renaissance Latinity). She authored Between science and fairy tale – Ivan Tomko Mrnavić (2008), prepared and translated (with Vladimir Rezar) Vita Petri Berislavi – Biography of Petar Berislavić (2008), edited and co-prepared Chronicle of the Franciscan Monastery in Našice, book I, 1739-1787 (2010) and book II, 1788-1820 (2012). She received the Annual State Award in the field of humanities (2009).
