The Centre for Croatian Studies was designed to impart knowledge in humanities and social sciences through interdisciplinary studies of Croatian culture, history, Latin language, philosophy, sociology, communication science, and psychology. Founded in 1992 as an independent department for Croatian Culture, it offered just one undergraduate and graduate programme. Over the years, the Centre developed grew into a significant unit of the University of Zagreb with seven departments, and it is now recognised as an institution offering competitive and well-rounded programmes in humanities and social sciences.PROGRAMME EMPHASIS
All programmes at the Centre for Croatian Studies are concerned with the study of Croatian national identity, at the same time focusing on their own main subject of interest. The programmes are designed on a single-honours and joint-honours basis. In the first three years of undergraduate studies (B.A.), students acquire the basics of their respective fields of study and a broad knowledge of other disciplines in social sciences and humanities. Students are required to achieve a minimum of 180 ECTS credit by the end of their undergraduate programme. At the graduate level (M.A.), students of all programmes acquire more specialized knowledge in their selected field of study, and choose between two models of study: research or teacher training scheme. In two years of graduate studies, students are required to achieve a minimum of 120 ECTS credits.CAREER PROSPECTS
Graduates from Centre for Croatian Studies can find employment in primary and secondary schools and higher-education institutions, cultural institutions, public administration, in broadcasting and television institutions, media corporations, tourism, research institutes, consular and diplomatic missions, libraries etc., depending on their subject and programme model.RESEARCH ORIENTATION
The faculty of the Centre for Croatian Studies produces quality research in their respective fields of interest and areas of specialization, mainly in academic journals published in Croatian language, but increasingly also in international publications. A significant part of their output is related to topics of national interest, exploring various aspects of Croatian language, culture and history.STUDY PROGRAMMES
